Strong governance structures that follow Indigenous peoples’ worldviews are key for their cultures and territories to thrive. These structures strengthen Indigenous peoples’ ability to build bridges toward constructive and respectful relations with the State regarding their right to self-determination.

Holistic management and guardianship ecosystems and collective territories

Intrinsic motivation to take care of Mother Earth on their ancestral territories and ecosystems, and proven wisdom and experience in leading processes that have led to robust guardianship for future generations.

Transmission of traditional knowledge, spirituality and ancestral continuity

Intergenerational transmission of knowledge and spirituality are core elements for Indigenous peoples to thrive. This is also linked to the need to access intercultural education and indigenous health, as ways to maintain knowledge and practices alive.

The Wayfinders Circle is a new collaborative initiative and
platform convened by the Pawanka Fund and Nia Tero, with
the guidance of the Council of Elders of the World Union of
Indigenous Spiritual Practitioners (WUISP).

The Wayfinders Circle is a new collaborative initiative and platform convened by the Pawanka Fund and Nia Tero, with the guidance of the Council of Elders of the World Union of
Indigenous Spiritual Practitioners (WUISP).

Indigenous peoples sustain many of the healthiest ecosystems on Earth: areas rich in biodiversity and systems essential to our global climate, fresh water, and food security. Nia Tero exists to ensure that Indigenous peoples have the economic power and cultural independence to steward, support, and protect their livelihoods and territories they call home. These places are vital to us all.

The Pawanka Fund—which is an Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Learning Initiative—is committed to the concept of intercultural philanthropy, based on ancestral practices of solidarity and reciprocity of Indigenous Peoples.

Intercultural Philanthropy builds from the knowledge that Indigenous Peoples have our own learning processes, systems of knowledge and ways to integrate new information, values, and interpretations and to share them with younger generations.

World Union of Indigenous Spiritual Practitioners (WUISP) is an open voluntary alliance of Indigenous spiritual practitioners, shamans, healers, sacred sites guardians, cultural activists, holders of traditional Indigenous knowledge and values, Indigenous organizations and clans committed to working together with the common goal of achieving the mission and vision for protection of Mother Earth and strengthening of pristine ties human-nature- culture for the survival and wellbeing of generations to come.
